Our Goal
Our goal is to provide lasting hope and educational support for children and their families residing in township communities near Cape Town. Our hope and desire is to lower barriers to education for children currently disadvantaged by poverty. In addressing these needs, we hope that greater opportunities for stability and opportunity may exist for these families.
Our Current Programs
After Care Project
Hope South Africa began in 2014 as a child sponsorship program. In 2017, our initial community project was a preschool in the Campground informal settlement. As the children in the Hope South Africa program completed preschool, the program shifted towards an after-school program. The program is currently hosted by our local ministry partner, Strandfontein Baptist Church, and runs in collaboration with the 9 Mile Project afterschool program (also hosted at the church). Children in the Hope South Africa program have access to daily van transportation, a nutritious snack, academic tutoring, and a safe, loving environment that supports them in their educational success.
Community Feedings
Food insecurity has a negative impact on a child’s brain development, physical health, and academic performance. We believe that addressing nutrition, lowers a significant barrier to education. Hope South Africa participates in a weekly feeding in the Campground community in collaboration with our non-profit partners, Strandfontein Church, and 9 Mile Project.
Holiday Club Teams
Every June, Hope South Africa leads a mission team to serve alongside our ministry partners at Strandfontein Church. The team helps host a Winter Break Holiday Club for children from the Campground community. Our hope is that more people would have the opportunity to serve and connect with children from the Campground community- becoming advocates for their education and friends for their journey.
